Pacemaker/Defibrillator Implantation Services

Sometimes lifestyle change and medication aren’t enough to combat heart disease. When other treatments are no longer effective, your physician may recommend an implantable cardiac device such as a pacemaker or defibrillator to help monitor and or regulate the rhythm of your heart. There are several different types of devices and your physician can select the proper device for you.  These devices can be helpful in treating patients whose heart rate is too slow (pacemaker) but can also be life-saving by automatically terminating a fatal arrhythmia (defibrillator).  Finally, certain devices can improve cardiac function lessening symptoms of congestive heart failure and improving patient’s quality of life as well as long-term survival.

Although not all types of devices can be implanted at all facilities, cardiac device implantation is performed at the following facilities: Orlando Regional Medical Center
